Chapter 33: A Blast From The Past

"How about a girl's night out?"

"Oh Mandy, you really are in the mood for this?"

"Sure Keshia. You need to get out more. You can't always be in the apartment. you should go out, meet people. Maybe the man of your dreams."

"The man of my dreams? Oh, right, the sweet and wonderfully amazing guy who's great in my dreams but in my life is more like a nightmare?"

"Ouch, cynical, what's going on?"

"I don't know, I guess I lost faith."

"No you haven't this is just a temporary set-back. Go get ready."



Keshia looked around. She hadn't been to Kisses for so long. It was great to be surrounded by peoples. She was getting used to being lonely too much.

"Thank you, Mandy. I needed that! How did you know?"

"Knowing you all those years, I just looked at you and could tell you needed a break."

"What would you like to drink? It's on me!"

"Can't say no then. I'll have a gin tonic. I'm going to the bathroom real quick. Wait for me here."


As Keshia watched Mandy walking towards the bathroom, she saw Victoria going in the same direction. Keshia left the bar and hoped Vicky hadn't seen Mandy and that she'd get to her first.

"Keshia!? Is that you?"

Keshia stopped walking. She recognized the voice but wasn't sure about what she should do. She could keep going and maybe he'd think he made a mistake. Or she could turn around, smile and take it from there. She chose the latter.

"Nathan...what a surprise."

"Yeah, it is. You weren't the clubbing type much. I thought you moved out of town."

"No, but you did. What brings you back?"

Nathan chuckled nervously. He looked around quickly before replying.

"Nothing in particular. You look fabulous. How have you been? "

"Thanks! I'm doing great. Couldn't be better. I'm graduating soon!"

"Good for you! That's wonderful news. How's your love life?"

As soon as the words escaped his mouth, he wished he could take them back. To make matters worse, he could see his date, Victoria, walking towards them.

"My love life is okay. If you'll excuse me, I was headed towards the bathroom when you called."

"Nathan, there you are, Sweetie! I manage for you to come back and the second you do, I lose you."


Keshia felt ill. Victoria with Nathan now? Maybe this night out wasn't such a good idea after all.

"Vicky, look who I bumped into."

"Hi, Keshia...I didn't expect to see you here."

"Really? For a change you could resist toying with people? Why here of all places? So Nathan's back for you? Well, good luck. the both of you need it."
